Friends of the Genesee Valley Greenway took Celebrate National Trails Day seriously!
The Friends of the Genesee Valley Greenway celebrated National Trails Day with a bang! The event took place at the Parade Grounds in Letchworth State Park, where the Greenway now runs along the top of the gorge above Middle Falls. The group celebrated with a membership picnic and presentations on the history of the former Genesee Valley Canal, including how Trail 7/Genesee Valley Greenway was reconnected for the first time in 20 years! Of course the celebration wouldn’t be complete without a group hike out on the trail. To round out the day, the group was treated to stunning vistas of the gorge at sunset, complete with a signature Letchworth view - a hot air balloon taking off from High Falls.
