Transportation options for you and your bike

Please schedule to arrive on Monday August 4, 2025 so you'll have time to meet other riders on the tour, explore the history near our starting location, and join us for the Opening Dinner.
Shuttle Bus
SHUTTLE options:
SHUTTLE BUS FROM NYC TO THE START in Troy -- Monday, August 4, 2025
An optional shuttle on Monday day to take you and your bike to Troy for an additional fee of $125.
*No long term parking is available in New York City prior to or during the ride.
Brooklyn - BACK TO LONG TERM PARKING in Troy -- Saturday, AUGUST 9, 2025
An optional return shuttle on Saturday to bring you and your bike back to the Start and Long Term Parking for an additional fee of $125. The shuttle will depart from Brooklyn Bridge Park on August 9, 2025 in the afternoon.
Cancelling Just the Shuttle
If you're still joining us for the ride but need to cancel your shuttle reservation and receive a refund minus a $25 cancellation fee per person, you must submit a SHUTTLE CANCELLATION FORM ⭳ no later than July 7, 2025. No shuttle refunds after July 7, 2025. There are no shuttle credits.

NOTE: If canceling the entire ride, only ride cancellation fees will be charged, even if your ride included the shuttle
Space on the shuttles is limited. A waitlist will be created once available spaces are filled, but there are no guarantees, so please sign up early. If you are not certain whether your registration includes a shuttle ticket, please email us at tquackenbush@ptny.org.
Car Rental
Please plan to gather on Monday August 4. NOTE: In order to rent a car in New York State, drivers must usually be 25+ years of age, have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record; only major credit cards are accepted for payment

Rail Travel

Only certain trains allow a boxed bike and there usually is an additional fee based on weight. When planning to travel with a bike on Amtrak be sure to talk to an agent to find a train that accepts bikes. Some Amtrak trains accept roll-on bikes; others require bikes to be boxed.

Air Travel
There are a variety of low-cost airlines that fly into Albany airports. Check out their website to get a list of the carriers.
Albany International Airport is located about 8.5 miles from our starting location, and about a 20 minute cab ride. Roads between the 2 are very busy and not especially bike friendly.
