Welcome, Azalea! Meet PTNY's Summer Intern

Azalea Clickenger, PTNY's new summer intern, is no stranger to love and commitment for the outdoors. Azalea grew up on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, MD, taking advantage of all of the environmental and recreational opportunities offered by the largest bay in the United States. Some of her favorite outdoor memories involve raising oyster spat with her family in their backyard creek and creating rain gardens with her Girl Scout troop. She is currently majoring in Environmental Science and Policy as a rising junior at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Her passion focuses on intersections between the environment, public health, and social justice, which she's excited to bring to her work at Parks & Trails New York as well as her future studies and career.

Azalea is looking forward to working with the PTNY team on various projects this summer, including research for Park and Trail Partnership Grants and supporting an updated statewide guide for greenway trail development. Azalea is grateful for the experience and insights working with PTNY and its dedicated team will provide. In her spare time she plays indoor and beach volleyball and composes music on the guitar and piano.
