Resource Highlight: An Extensive Resource Library For Friends

One of the primary ways that PTNY supports NYS Friends groups is through the sharing of best-practice resources that provide groups with the knowledge and tools needed to function and evolve as nonprofit organizations that steward and support our public parks, trails, and open spaces.

PTNY has migrated all our resources for Friends over to an extensive resource library on the Friends Gateway. This library contains our Best Practices Manual for Friends, reports that PTNY has created over the years, resources for those applying for a Park and Trail Partnership Grant, and an all-inclusive Friends Resource Kit which is broken down by subject for easy access on any topic relevant to building your capacity as an organization.

A handful of resources, including our Best Practice Manual for Friends, recordings of our Friends-to-Friends workshops, and all Park and Trail Partnership grant resources, as well as a few key templates and sample documents, will be available to the public. Full access to all resources, including more in-depth guidance documents, external funding sources, and resources shared by Friends groups, will be available to Gateway members only.

You can access the resource library by going to ptnyfriends.org/resources-for-friends or by going to the homepage of the Friends Gateway at ptnyfriends.org and clicking on the “Resources for Friends” menu header.

Once there, you will see our Best Practices Manual and our Friends Resource Kit:

If you choose a topic, you will first see all the public resources available to your group on that topic as shown below:

Click on “Resources for Members” button on the bottom of the page to access the remainder of the resources for that topic.

With the help of Friends like you, we are constantly growing the resource library. If you have a resource that you would like to see included or a topic you would like to see covered, please email us at friends@ptny.org and we would be happy to discuss it or to add that resource to our library so that other groups can access it. We will also be adding resources to the library based on discussions in the Friends Forums. The more Friends that join the conversation, the more valuable the Friends Gateway will be for all!

In future You Gotta Have Friends newsletters for members, we will be diving deeper into specific resources that are available to you and discussing how they may benefit your organization–so join us today on the Friends Group Gateway!
