Welcome, Shaina

Parks & Trails New York is delighted to welcome Shaina Hogan as our new Parks Program Coordinator.

A native to Metro Detroit, Shaina planted roots in the Capital Region in 2017. Enamored by the abundance of public green space available in New York State, Shaina is now excited to join the Parks & Trails New York team to help protect and advocate for these spaces.

Shaina received her B.A. in Sustainability and International Development from the University of Michigan, School of Natural Resources and Environment. After college, she moved across the country to work in wilderness adventure therapy as a field guide serving at-risk youth in Utah. “Helping others cultivate a strong therapeutic relationship with the natural world helped me understand how important accessibility to green spaces is for a community. The work PTNY does to protect these spaces and support the people who use them is inspiring,” she said.

Since college, Shaina has spent extensive time exploring trails and public lands in the U.S. and abroad, further cultivating her love of natural spaces and dedication to environmental issues. Shaina has experience in communications, event planning and facilitation, environmental policy, and higher-education administration.

When she isn’t working, Shaina loves to ride her bike, explore new places with her loved ones, write poetry, and enjoy live music.
