Rockefeller donates 346 acres to State Park

On January 10th, New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that Rockefeller State Park Preserve of Pleasantville is expanding by 346 acres, thanks to the kind donation of David Rockefeller. increasing the total acreage to 1,771 acres. Rockefeller State Park Preserve will now encompass 1,771 acres of land. Additionally, Rockefeller has designated 93 acres of land for a conservation easement with Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. The Rockefeller family has a longstanding legacy of dedicating natural resources for public use continued by this gift.

Rockefeller State Park Preserve first opened to the public in 1983 and has been a favorite to many since then. Although the mansions and buildings are no longer there, it consists largely of the formerestates of John D. and William Rockefeller. The scenic grounds of the park allows visitors to experience historic carriage roads, an art gallery, and scenery designed by esteemed landscape designer Frank Law Olmsted. Other features that guests can enjoy are a diverse array of native species in the park’s hardwood forest and a short walk to the picturesque Swan Lake.
