Each year, thousands of riders pedal a portion of the Erie Canalway Trail. Many take a short trek for daily exercise; others plan a vacation, cycling through the canal's small towns, visiting artisan shops, unique restaurants and quaint inns and B&Bs along the way. History buffs retrace America's longest man-made waterway.
Others cycle the entire trail, fulfilling a dream of crossing the great state of New York on two wheels. For many, it is part of a longer journey across the United States. No matter how many miles you travel, there are always new adventures to discover.

Vaughn and Debbie
Vaughn and Debbie are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary by coming to Rochester and riding various trails on different days. They parked in Genesee Valley Park and rode to Brockport. The next day they will rode East followed by doing the River Trail south. They love our bike trails.
50th High School Reunion
These guys are celebrating their 50-year reunion from High School graduation by biking from Buffalo to Syracuse. Jack is from Saratoga Springs, NY. Bill is from Oak Bluffs, Mass. And Mike is from Punta Gorda, FL. They are staying at hotels along the way.
20th Anniversary Ride
This group from Fairport is celebrating 20 years of riding the trail together.
Hunter and Andrew
Andrew is from Poughkeepsie and was headed to Minneapolis. Hunter, from Austin, TX, was cycling a circuitous route from Texas through New York along the Canalway Trail and then back out west to San Francisco.
Peter, JoAnn, and Rudy
On the Left is Peter Brown from Australia. He is riding from Washington, DC to Pittsburg to Niagara Falls then to Palmyra. On the right is JoAnn and Rudy DiGilio from Washington, NJ. They riding from end-to-end.
