Each year, thousands of riders pedal a portion of the Erie Canalway Trail. Many take a short trek for daily exercise; others plan a vacation, cycling through the canal's small towns, visiting artisan shops, unique restaurants and quaint inns and B&Bs along the way. History buffs retrace America's longest man-made waterway.
Others cycle the entire trail, fulfilling a dream of crossing the great state of New York on two wheels. For many, it is part of a longer journey across the United States. No matter how many miles you travel, there are always new adventures to discover.

Max & Friends
The two guys on the left are from Worcester Mass. They rode to Detroit and now heading back home. They hooked up with the two guys on the right from SF who rode to Seattle > Yellowstone > Mt. Rushmore > Minneapolis > Chicago > Detroit > Niagara Falls heading to NYC. They are on a fundraising tour for the families of the Orlando Shootings.
Ann and Peter
This is Ann and Peter who shipped their bikes from California to Buffalo just ride the Erie Canalway Trail to Albany.
Alan and Marcy
Alan and his wife Marcy rode from Brockport to Pittsford and back. After an overnight stay at a cozy B&B, they drove back to Pittsford to complete another 25-mile segment round trip. They have done this on a number of U.S. trails, including a previous trek across the Erie Canalway Trail from Buffalo to Syracuse.

This gentleman "Frank" was riding the Erie Canal Towpath west through the state: "Montana or Bust". He was kind enough to have his photo taken by Chris O'Neil who was out for her bicycle ride too. ~ At Kirkville N.Y.

On the Left is Peter Brown from Australia. He is riding from Washington, DC to Pittsburg to Niagara Falls then to Palmyra. On the right is JoAnn and Rudy DiGilio from Washington, NJ. They riding from end-to-end.
